Heated domes atop Cafe Benelux are ready for you

Cafe Benelux takes winter patio-ing to a new level, literally and figuratively, with the new rooftop Lux Domes.

The structures – there are six – are heated and seat from two to eight people. They are available to rent for 90 minutes on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays via the website. Dates are currently available through Dec. 23 and more dates will be released in the near future.

Reservations are $200 and include a drink package as well as keepsake mugs for guests. Food and beverage packages are also available and pre-ordered at the time of the reservation on the website.

Although the domes are heated – there's a free-standing heater inside each dome – guests are encouraged to dress warmly and in layers. This is winter in Wisconsin, after all. In the case of dangerously low temperature or blizzards, the domes will close, but people will have the option of moving their reservation or receiving a refund.

"We wanted to create a way for Milwaukeeans to enjoy the city during our cold and dark winter evenings that was an experience unlike any other in the city," said Dan Herwig, director of brand and marketing for Lowlands Group. "We've seen similar rooftop experiences in London and Boston add life to those cities in their harsh winters, so we figured Milwaukee would be a great fit for something similar."
