Although the Kasana restaurant is closed, the company still plans to offer catering and special events services.

Kasana in Third Ward seeks new location after flooding

After a burst pipe, resulting in flooding in the lower level of the Broadway Central Building in Milwaukee's Third Ward earlier this month, Kasana Restaurant and Bar announced that it will close until further notice.

However, as of this week, owner Ana Docta says that the restaurant can no longer operate at 241 N. Broadway St., and will be seeking out a new location.

The restaurant, which has operated in its garden level space in the Third Ward since 2012, began as a shared kitchen and event space, eventually adding a cafe in 2013 and evolving to offer regular evening dinner service and brunch with a focus on Brazilian fare.

Although the future is uncertain for Kasana at the moment, Docta says that the business will continue to offer catering services. She has also forged a partnership with Bert's Bar, located at 3907 S. Lake Dr. in St. Francis to develop a food and cocktail program for the bar, which currently does not offer food.
