Food fight: is cereal a soup?

Today's question deals with a certain solid and liquid combo in a bowl. When you put your Cheerios or Frosted Flakes in a bowl with milk, do you think of it as a soup? Is the milk enough of a soup-like consistency to consider it a broth? Or is the classic breakfast food a separate food group from soup?

A soup can be defined as "a liquid food especially with a meat, fish or vegetable stock as a base and often containing pieces of solid food," according to Webster's dictionary. So, clearly the real answer is pretty obvious …
