The new Portillo's will be part of a large 84 South commercial-residential development.

Greenfield will be next location for Portillo's expansion

The South Side will soon have its very own taste of Chicago. A new 9,000-square foot Portillo's, complete with a double drive-thru, is on the way to Greenfield.

The new location, which is slated to open in April at 8705 W. Sura Ln. in the 84 South commercial-residential development, will be the second Portillo's location in Wisconsin, followed by the opening of the Brookfield store this summer.

"We are excited at the opportunity to bring a second Portillo's to our neighbors to the north," said Portillo's CEO Keith Kinsey in a press release about the new location. "It has been a pleasure working with the city of Greenfield to make this happen."

Like its sister location in Brookfield, the Greenfield Portillo's will serve a variety of beloved items, including Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, burgers, salads and chocolate cake.

The restaurant itself is expected to seat at least 180, with a seasonal patio that will provide seating for additional 52 guests in the summer. And, like all Portillo's locations, there will be a "Dick Loves Sharon" sign hidden among the decorative paraphernalia, a subtle homage to founder Dick Portillo and his wife Sharon.

And this isn't the last we'll see from Portillo's. The Chicago-based fast casual restaurant has set its sights on multiple locations in Wisconsin, including at least one in the Madison area.
