Drumroll, please. The winner of the 2020 Georgie Porgie's Burger Contest is...
It's International Burger Day, making it the perfect time to announce the winner of the Georgie Porgie's Burger Contest.
The contest, which gleaned 165 customer entries, featured some deliciously tough competition. But, only one burger could rise to the top; and this year, it was the Dragon Egg, which took the top spot against four other finalists: the "Wisconsin Strong," "Elote," "Wisconsin Rootburger" and "The Mexi."
Submitted by Ryan Roman of Oak Creek the Dragon Egg features a burger topped with mayo, egg, spicy Sriracha aioli, pickles, bacon and pepper jack cheese on Texas toast.
The burger will be available for purchase at both Georgie Porgie's locations (in Oak Creek and Mount Pleasant) for $8.99 from June 1 through June 30.
After entries were narrowed to five finalists by the Georgie Porgie's staff, the winning burger was chosen by a panel of judges, including Marcus Hanel of the Milwaukee Brewers, Brewers announcer Bill Schroeder, WISN 12 Meteorologist Lindsey Slater, Brian Kramp of Fox 6, Marcus Allen of WKLH and Lori Fredrich of OnMilwaukee (that's me).
And yes – for those of you who might be wondering – the Dragon Egg was my number one pick. It's delicious.
Locally owned and operated, Georgie Porgies has locations in Oak Creek and Mt. Pleasant. The restaurant is known for its burgers, gyros and award-winning custard.
