Do this: Two Thursday night food events you won't want to miss

Looking for something to do this evening? You're in luck. Here are two ways to enjoy our great, but fleeting, Milwaukee summer!

Big Paella, Big Bottle

If you're looking for another reason to spend your Thursday evening on the patio … Hotel Madrid, 600 S. 6th St., is making things easy as paella.

Beginning Thursday, July 13, the restaurant is launching a new weekly event called Big Paella, Big Bottle.

The main event is a three-foot-diameter paella, which will be cooked right outside on the fabulous Hotel Madrid patio. Add unlimited wine pours from its jereboams (4.5 liter bottles), and you've got a Thursday night party waiting to happen.

Cost for the event is $25 per person, and both the paella and wine will be available until they're gone.

This week's featured paella will be seafood (the flavor will change weekly, along with the wine selection).

The event will take place each Thursday this summer, rain or shine. If the weather is patio-inappropriate, the event will be held inside Vermuteria 600.

Tapas & Taps

Of course, if beer is more your speed, you'll want to head over to Three Lions Pub, 4515 N. Oakland Ave., this evening

During this interactive event, guests will sample six unique Third Space beers (including some that are not available commercially). Those brews will be accompanied by six tapas-style dishes, including baked oysters, duck confit Scotch egg, a duo of scallop and crab, a mini lamb wellington, house cured pork belly and slaw and an Oreo and Snickers cheesecake.

The twist is, it will be your job to decide which beers pair best with which dishes. The Third Space Brew Master will also be present during the event to talk about the beers and give information about the brewery. For every correct pairing, the guest will receive two raffle tickets for prizes from Three Lions and Third Space at the end of the event.

The cost is $40.23, and tickets can be purchased online.
