The former Drink Wisconsinbly Pub space on National Avenue is set to become a deli-inspired restaurant.

Couple plans bagel shop for former Drink Wisconsinbly location

The former Drink Wisconsinbly Pub, in the space at 135 E. National Ave. that was originally renovated as a home for the now-defunct Blue Jacket restaurant, will become Allie Boy's Bagelry & Luncheonette.

According to a report in the Business Journal Wednesday, husband and wife Ben Nerenhausen and Staci Lopez are planning a restaurant – named in honor of Lopez' father – that offer a modern take on the classic Jewish delicatessen.

According to the report, Allie Boy's will make its own cream cheese and smoked fish and will serve breakfast sandwiches and bagels and will have a liquor license to serve beer, wine and spirits.

The goal is to open the restaurant by fall.

Drink Wisconsinbly Pub opened in the space in 2016 – the year after Blue Jacket closed – and shut down there last December.

The pub – which OnMilwaukee readers named Milwaukee's best pub in the 2018 Best of Bars poll – reopened in the Fiserv Forum live block in March.

Blue Jacket replaced the Triangle Bar in the space in 2012.
