Robin's picks: 7 days of Milwaukee entertainment musts
Born and raised in Milwaukee, a lover of life and and a connector of people, I'm a mother, a real estate developer, a philanthropist, a singer and more. And last, but most definitely not least, I love Milwaukee!
I often get asked – by people I know and don't know alike, out of towners and MKE locals – what is there to do here? Is there any live music tonight? What's a good place for a date? What's a good place to hang with a group of friends? You get the point ...
So I've decided to share my weekly picks of cool happenings in and around our lovely city. I may repeat some "regulars," and the list by no means is comprehensive, but it will give you glimpse of some of the great things our great city has to offer for entertainment.
Sunday, March 11
On Sundays, I Brunch HARD! And I need to get to one of Bronzeville's gems, On the Bayou! On The Bayou is boasting the best plated brunch in the city, happening on Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. An On The Bayou brunch totals $25.95, featuring a plated entrees like blackened catfish, the 10 oz. prime O.T.B ribeye, Big Easy Cajun fish, Bayou pork shank with bacon beer gravy and half a NOLA fried chicken. Brunch includes an entree, an endless salad bar, a made-to-order omelet station, waffle bar and dessert. And don't forget to try a Giant Bourbon Street Mimosa for $9.95 – or, in true New Orleans fashion, add endless mimosas for only $14.95!

Meanwhile Brownstone Social Lounge has Tuesday Tunes, "the livest free show in the land," featuring Cigarette Break band and various singers featured weekly. The band does two sets, starting at 9 p.m. I'll be at both!
There's been LOTS of talk surrounding Marvel's "Black Panther" ... and the Wisconsin Black Media Association (WBMA) wants to hear from you! Join the WBMA for a night of thought-provoking discussion about what impact "Black Panther" has on society. This free event will take place at the Wisconsin Black Historical Society, 7-9 p.m.
Wednesday, March 14
#Enough. Today I will stand with students of Rufus King High School, my alma mater, for 17 minutes at 10 a.m. as part of the #NationalSchoolWalkout, taking place across every time zone to protest Congress' inaction to do more than tweet thoughts and prayers in response to the gun violence plaguing our schools and neighborhoods. We need action. Students and allies are organizing the national school walkout to demand Congress pass legislation to keep us safe from gun violence at our schools, on our streets and in our homes and places of worship. Seventeen is symbolic for the number of victims in the recent Parkland School shooting.
Later on, Wine Down Wednesday Karaoke happens each and every week at Brownstone Social Lounge. There's half of bottles of wine and karaoke! What can be more fun? I can't think of anything ...
Thursday, March 15
The Jamie Breiwick Quartet will play Monk at Caroline's Jazz Club. Starting at 8:30 p.m., this will be a treat.
Friday, March 16
Stop in the Jazz Estate for a late night session with Cameron Webb, paying tribute to Sam Cooke and the Temptations. Enough said. Get there from 11:30 p.m. until 2 a.m.

- Sunday, May 13: The "After the Love Has Gone" stage play – which I have the honor and privilege to be a part of this amazing cast – will perform an encore Milwaukee show after being on the road in Ohio and Georgia over the next few weeks. The story: Social media is driving a wedge between this once happily married couple. Full of love in the beginning, now one is thinking of going astray. Has the love simply ran its course or is spending too much time on the computer causing someone to drift away? Can this marriage be saved? How far would you go to save your marriage? You'll laugh, you'll cry and you will enjoy! Tickets are on sale March 13 on Eventbrite, with an early bird special for $20!
This is only a glimpse of the amazing things happening in the lovely place we all call home, so try to get out and partake in some of it. You only live once – that's my motto! Until we chat again next week, live, love, laugh and enjoy Milwaukee!
