Let there be (Hoan Bridge) light!

The Hoan is gonna be lit Thursday and Friday nights

The Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge – aka "The Hoan" – will soon be permanently aglow with seasonal lighting, and this week Milwaukee will get a glimpse of what it will look like in all of its illuminated glory.

The display will light up during the evenings of Thursday, Nov. 1 and Friday, Nov. 2 with an expanded palette of more than a billion saturated colors. These stunning dynamic effects can then be programmed to commemorate special events, holidays and important civic causes, such as green and gold for the Packers, rainbow during Pride Weekend, etc.

Thursday's demo will take place at the Sail Loft, 649 E. Erie St., where the lights will be controlled from a laptop in the restaurant. The Bucks/Celtics game will sync with the bulbs on the Hoan Bridge, meaning lights will dance with every winning play. There will also be a FB Live on the Light the Hoan page to catch the splendor online.

On Friday, Light the Hoan supporters hosts a photo contest where participants can post pictures of themselves and the glowing bridge on Facebook and other social media platforms with the hashtag #lightthehoan.

Signify, the world leader in lighting, will temporarily install connected LED lighting on the bridge and representatives from Signify will spend hours this week installing a partial panel of dynamic LED lights on the city-facing, north end of the bridge.

Signify has illuminated some of the most iconic landmarks in the world, including the Empire State Building, the Jacques Cartier Bridge in Montreal, the Allianz Arena in Munich and the London Eye.
