A guide to Milwaukee's little free libraries

Note: The contents of this guide were checked for accuracy when this article was updated on Aug. 22, 2013 at 5:29 a.m. We continually update the thousands of articles on, but it's possible some details, specials and offers may have changed. As always, we recommend you call first if you have specific questions for the businesses mentioned in the guide.

Little free libraries are popping up all over Milwaukee and its surrounding communities. These homemade, freestanding structures in front yards around the city operate on the "take-a-book/leave-a-book" system, and many are neighborhood or community efforts.

Little free libraries are not intended to replace real libraries. Instead, the purpose is to circulate more books among community members.

People may or may not find an interesting read in a little free library – the selection is usually random – but for book lovers, it's always fun to browse.

Enderis Park - near the intersection of 73rd and Locust. Nice additional to the neighborhood!

I am all for encouraging reading. I would very much like to go to several of these sites and add books. I don't need to take any out as I have plenty of opportunity to get books. Do you think that would be ok to do?
