The skies above Milwaukee got significantly quieter and less interesting this summer.

The 2020 Milwaukee Air & Water Show is canceled

The skies will be significantly less exciting this summer as the 2020 Milwaukee Air & Water Show today joined the long list of canceled summer festivals and traditions due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The 2020 edition – which was scheduled to feature the U.S. Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Team – was originally set for July 25-26.

"Given the amount of uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, we recognize that cancelling the 2020 Milwaukee Air & Water Show is the responsible and necessary thing to do," said WaterStone Bank President/CEO Doug Gordon, in a release. "We can keep our communities safe and healthy by supporting local public health efforts. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Milwaukee Air & Water Show in 2021."

"The rare and exceptional opportunity to host the Navy Blue Angels made this a very tough but necessary decision to make," Milwaukee Air & Water Show President Paul Rogers said, in the release. "The only responsible option was to cancel this year's event. Together, we can come back stronger, safer and ready for the 2021 Milwaukee Air & Water Show, and create a memorable world class event."

Here's some good news: Those who pre-purchased tickets for this year's now-canceled event can get refunds via Ticket Socket, the Air & Water Show's official ticketing service. And here's some even better news: At least the 2021 Milwaukee Air & Water Show is already on the schedule, set for July 24-25 next year. Here's to looking up at the sky together as one in wonder again next year.
