In Bars & Clubs

Drinking games mean more than beer pong these days.

Updated: Oak & Shield Gaming Pub applies for Karma space

It looks like Karma Bar & Grill, 600 E. Ogden Ave., will become Oak & Shield Gaming Pub according to a liquor license application and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Gordon Lugauer, the owner of Board Game Barrister, applied for the license. Lynn Richter, owner of 42 Lounge, is a partner in the project. The proposed opening date is April 1.

Karma is currently still open for business.

"It's unique for a 'geek bar' owner to join forces with a board game store owner," says Richter. "It feels like we have limitless opportunities when it comes to games of all kinds. You'll be able to play anything here."

Oak & Shield, if approved, will offer console games, board games, trivia, DJs, bands, karaoke and a venue for comedy, spoken word, dancing and more. Richter says they plan to open with a limited menu if the license allows, and move into a larger menu in the future.

Karma opened in 2007.
