New York Times writer names Goodkind cocktail one of 2019's best
Robert Simonson, the drinks writer for the New York Times, released his list of the 10 best cocktails for 2019 earlier today on his website, Punch (punchdrunk.com), and Goodkind's Pira Pira cocktail was at the top of the list.
"Some of the best cocktails in Milwaukee are served at a restaurant, Goodkind, a cozy neighborhood joint dishing out elevated comfort food. This mixture of blended Scotch, Calvados, bianco vermouth, pear brandy and nutmeg tincture, served up, is the brainchild of bartender Katie Rose, one of the city's leading lights in the industry. While it seems like a delightful liquid tour of Europe, the drink was actually inspired by pear and apple trees found around Rose's childhood home in rural Wisconsin. Either way, there's a comforting autumnal aura to the cocktail."

Simonson, a Wisconsin native who currently lives in Brooklyn, is no stranger to Brew City. He spent 36 hours here in October and wrote an article about his discoveries. He also recently wrote a book called "The Martini Cocktail," about which OnMilwaukee published a story earlier today.
But back to Goodkind. Congratulations, Katie Rose! You are truly OG Milwaukee!
