Owner Jason Growel expects to reopen early next month.

Eastsider closed for remodeling

The Eastsider, 1732 E. North Ave., closed over the weekend for renovations.

Owner Jason Growel says the bar will reopen shortly after the new year.

"We're just doing some remodeling and some updates," Growel said Sunday night. "Putting in some new soda guns and cooler system and some new doors."

The old neon "Eastsider" sign that's hung over the door since opening in 1999 is being cleaned up and will be moved inside, giving way for a new sign outside.

Growel said the work should be completed in time to reopen around Jan. 1st or 2nd.

Knuckleheads? Let e guess, you are in the 4th grade?! Anyways, who cares what day is in the top 5 of busiest nights cause NYE is 1 or 2 on that list, for sure! All i was saying is that it sounds like bs to me. It is pretty simple...if they reopen I was wrong, if not, well lets just say I told you so!!

I love this place! I moved here from London two years ago and it reminded me of the pub we had by our university. It's certainly one of my favorites on North Ave! Everyone's always super nice in there and it's fun. I've gone in there on their Thursday nights when it was crazy packed and also been there on a Monday when it was just a few of my friends and a dozen or so others. Who cares why they closed as long as they're reopening!

I am a frequent customer of the Eastsider, and since all I saw was negative things I would give a response from the other side. I have a blast on thursday nights there, as well as all my friends. I am surrounded by good looking women, cheap drinks, and the 70 or so people there seem to be having a great time. The bartenders really get the crowed into the party, they play fun music, and it's just people enjoying themselves. I know everyone sees things differently but the majority of the people I see there appreciate the place and the staff. I have a job where I see ton's of criticism everyday. The people who are successful don't negatively put down others for one reason. They are to busy being successful, living there life, and less concerned with bring down others.

To all you knucleheads who think that you know everything...you don't think St. Patrick's Day would be in the top 3 busiest bar days now do ya? Or Superbowl Sunday? Maybe Cinco de Mayo? You all so smart...and no, I'm not affiliated with the Eastsider in any way...I actually think that bar blows and is run by a couple of hacks... In any event, we are not getting the whole story here...you don't need to paper over your windows to install new soda guns, coolers and doors....something else us going on here, how dumb do you think we all are?

I could think of at least 7 bars that would be a better namesake for the Eastside than the Eastsider. Bar has always sucked!
