No doubt about it. Prince is the king of vegetarians.
Sunday's New York Times sports section featured a color photo of the Milwaukee Brewers slugger dining at Roots, 1818 N. Hubbard St. along side a nearly 1,500-word feature story that spanned two pages.
Written by Alan Schwartz, "Meat is out at Fielder's Plate," is a tour through various menu selections at Roots as well as Fielder's thoughts on his likes and dislikes.
Schwartz calls Fielder's new life without meat, "a lifestyle change attempted by few major-sport athletes." He can't name "any other baseball-playing vegetarians," but notes that "the tight end Tony Gonzalez of the Kansas City Chiefs last year became a vegan."
