The South Shore Frolics is plenty of festival for some folks. |

Every weekend there's a festival in Brew City, some of which are held at the Henry Maier Festival Park (Summerfest grounds) and some that simply bust out on blocked-off streets or parks. There are pros and cons to both, but most people usually prefer one over the other. So, what's your vote: big or small Brew City festivals?
The bigger the better. I love Summerfest and the ethnic festivals the best -- particularly the ethnic festivals that draw the largest crowds like Festa Italiana -- because I love the excitement, the food and musical offerings and the proximity to the lake. The large festivals really inspire Milwaukee pride and they are more fun.
Good things come in small festivals. I much prefer the mellower summer festivals. Give me South Shore Frolics over Summerfest any day. I am not into large crowds or the chaos of the big gigs and would much prefer to hang out in a scene where people are less focused on drinking. Plus, the food and music are usually better quality and more affordable at the smaller fests.

bayview: I'll give you that one about the Frolics. Normally I do the parade and hit backyard parties afterwards or host one myself. The Frolics' lakefront festivities get pretty weird. But nothing can be uglier than what some of the shuttle buses drop off in the neighborhood during Summerfest.

The bigger the better! Bring on Summerfest and State Fair.

If you think the people at the Frolics are less focused on drinking, then you obviously have never been. Drunkeness and trash are worse at the Frolics than Summerfest.

I go with small too. Less stupid drunks, and easier to enjoy the music and hang with friends. Go to bigger ones once in awhile though. There needs to be a site where all the area (within 20 miles) festivals are listed for free, no matter how big or small.

Definitely small. People tend to check their behavior a little better at a small event as they'll stand out more if they don't behave.
