I also love Governor Dodge State Park - I've been to many that our state offers, but in terms of the variety of recreational options Gov. Dodge offers - it really can't be beat. Whether you are into fishing, hiking, kayaking, trail running - there is something for everyone. For families, House on the Rock is nearby for any rainy days. Muskie fishing is especially great in October. We go several weekends per year.
Other favorite - the Trees for Tomorrow Conservation camp at Eagle River, WI. This Northeastern educational facility has great programs for adults and kids, and provides insight into early conservation efforts. If you can, take advantage of a program that offers the bog walk - totally unique and incredible. I had the pleasure of attending a camp while in grade school, and the experience was invaluable.
