Milwaukee's best Greek, 2009: Oakland Gyros
When it comes to the annual OnMilwaukee.com best dining poll, there is a heavyweight champ. Oakland Gyros, a stalwart in the "Best late night drunk eats" category, doubled up again this year by taking the title for "Best Greek." As is custom in recent years, Oakland Gyros nabbed nearly 33 percent of the total vote in the category, outdistancing the runner-up, Apollo Cafe.

Milwaukee's best local fast food, 2009: Culver's
OnMilwaukee.com readers picked Culver's as their favorite local fast food joint. Culver's is a chain that's based in Prairie du Sac, Wis. The first hamburger-and-ice-cream eatery opened in 1984 in Sauk City, and today, there are 390 Culver's restaurants all over the country.

Year after year, Oakland Gyros takes the prize for OnMilwaukee.com readers' favorite Late Night Drunk Eats. Maybe it's the location, on the East Side close to UWM. Maybe it's because Greek food can be salty and delicious after a long night of libation. Maybe, it's because Oakland Gyros takes on a slightly bawdy atmosphere around bar time.
