Narrowing it down to 10 ... a futile work in progress
With apologies to Nick Hornby, I'm not much of a list-maker anymore. Sure, I was the music geek kid with a list -- and a ready-made mix tape -- for every eventuality, but now I love music more than I enjoy trying to quantify it.

1979: an unbeatable year for music
OK, I've been a music fan for a long time now and I've lived through some good years for music and some lean ones. And I've dug back into the music of the past, too, so I feel pretty confident in deciding that 1979 was perhaps the pinnacle of pop music so far.

"End of the Century" captures the Ramones' roots
"End of the Century," a musical documentary, takes viewers back to 1974 when four friends with a love for The Stooges and sniffing glue were putting together a band. That band was called The Ramones.
