DeMay strikes out on his own ... briefly
Chris DeMay is known in the Milwaukee music scene as being the pointman in the stalwart alt.country band West of Rome and also for his work with Michelle Anthony. Now, DeMay steps out on his own with a somewhat misleadingly-titled EP called “I Won’t Be Me.”

West of Rome EP proves this band thrives under pressure
What makes West of Rome's "School and Books and Trains and Leaving" EP unusual is that the band recorded the mini-LP in a day. In fact, singer and guitarist Chris DeMay says the band didn't plan on working so quickly. It just sort of worked out that way ... thanks in part to the Wisconsin winter.

Wilco's Bennett helps West of Rome find its sound
Milwaukee bands are getting awfully friendly with Jay Bennett, formerly of Wilco. Last year, Michelle Anthony released her Bennett-produced disc, and now her friends West of Rome follow suit, even though their disc was recorded earlier.
