Let's look... hmmm 88.9 FM got soul/funk/worldbeat and a ton of alternative music... with a few local songs thrown in the ones you listen to on myspace..... my ipod has soul/funk/worldbeat and a ton of alternative music with a few local songs people let me download on myspace......hmmmmm..... 88.9 seems like a cult formed by people who went to UWM or MATC for 6 years for a degree in communication but after failing to find employment in their field they decided to do us all a favor and not sell out for new york or los angeles or somewhere else like everyone else. they did us a favor and stuck around and decided to make a radio station with a socialist vibe you know the types, djs, the people whose myspace pic is meant to look like obamas famed campaign poster instead of coming up with a format that could actually make money they just decided to follow the old Rasta mon times business model and just pan handle. it seems hard justifying listening to a radio station that 90 percent of the time is playing the same things that are on my ipod already anyway. And not half of the good stuff they seem to overlook. Is 88.9 actually 91.7 ran by the door knockers for Obama's campaign? Ambitious people. LOL. My ipod doesnt try to brainwash me over and over about unified or unifying milwaukee can i have my music without the montonous droning thank you.

This isnt your sociology teacher at MATC's wet dream its a radio station and this isnt war torn bosnia or something. You know my ipod has a slogan its "SEGREGATE MILWAUKEE" i got a bumper sticker and a t-shirt and everything. Nobody wants to volunteer to hand the junk out though. It is just plain dumb to pay for radio. I said it. Who are these people who want to feel part of something and wear radio station t-shirts. This group mentality. Is this a charity? Are they seriously deluded and thinking that they are bringing "peace" to milwaukee or ending segregation? Or is this just a gimmick slogan? Music is free. Radio is free. We don't need 88.9. Donate to a real charity. Diverse city with diverse music? Which city isn't?

And stop playing those voices of those lonely women who have donated who sound like they had too much dayquil and are just bored waiting until Dr. phil comes on so they can cry. Wait. I KNOW WHAT THIS IS REALLY ABOUT! All the people for all these years who complained about the local hits never being played on local CORPORATE radio. They got together conspired and now they can finally hear their local songs on a radio station besides 91.7. What an ego trip! All this so our local artists can finally get the radio attention they deserve? How is this not college radio? Why not just listen to myspace and download the free local mp3's? Maybe I should go around recording people lieing about how they get along with everyone and everyone is getting along and the city is great and just put those mp3's on my ipod and then i can have my own 88.9. Is 88.9 a radio station or a sociology course for Christ's sake!

WTF!?!?! STOP UNIFYING PLEASE!!! JUST STOP!! And my Ipod don't skip.

I'm sure that there is a point in here somewhere, but I don't know what it is. If your Ipod is better, then why not just listen to it? Sounds like you've spent a fair amount of time on the radio dial though which is why I don't get what you are complaining about. You do realize that NOTHING in life is free excepting the love of you family (if you're lucky). Just think of all of the hours a year commercial radio listeners are subject to terrible ads and worse music. How do you put a price on quality of life? Just because Milwaukee has a rather entrenched racial divide doesn't mean that the issue can't be addressed by a local radio station, pollyanna-ish though it may be, does it? My own tastes run towards 91.7 and 89.7, so I understand that these stations are COMMUNITY SUPPORTED and that they are not in fact swimming in money and so once a year I will pitch in and throw down to help support institutions that I love. I have an Ipod too and it is populated with wholly awesome music, but I choose not to live in such an insular fashion. I will agree with you on one point though, I'm not a big fan of their dj staff, they are pretty homogeneous and full of affectation, but on the other stuff I've gotta respectfully disagree with pretty much everything else in this screed.

The Packers play on a Thursday.
Gluttonous eating without consequence.
The weather should be nice enough on "Black Friday" to shop Bayshore or Third Ward.
One or two days off of work.
Giving thanks, with friends and family.
Christmas is only a month away, and Hanukkah is even closer.
Bah humbug.
