Jones Island was once home to a community of immigrants who fished the waters of Lake Michigan off the shores of Milwaukee. The Kaszubes, originally from Poland, lived and worked on the island, and were eventually displaced in the early 20th century. Kaszube's Park is on Jones Island, and is the smallest park in the county. In addition to this anchor, there is a plaque commemorating the inhabitiants of this settlement. Today, the island is a peninsula, and is populated with various industrial firms.
