I settled into a routine the next couple of days of driving to the office while listening to Larry Meeler's show on wpr and then stopping in at a Thai Coffeeshop in a strip mall in Mequon prior to the training session. The place is called Bang Thai and it has a few machines for free internet use, comfortable couch seating and a big screen plasma tv on the wall. The coffee is on the low end in terms of specialty coffee (it's distro'd by Sara Lee) but if you are in the area and need a place to relax, it's worth checking out.

It was nice having a routine again however as the training day wore on and the clock neared 5pm I was always thankful to be heading back home. The drive home those first few evenings was an internal battle of will as I kept up a continual struggle of convincing myself that this wasn't a waste of time. I would do the math in my head and come up with dollar figures that made the job seem worth it regardless of whether I enjoyed it.

By the end of the Thursday we were ready to start trying to sell the machines. We had Friday and the weekend to visit friends and family and present them the product following the script we had spent the week learning. My first appointment was for Friday evening at 7pm at Jimmy and Rachel's house. They are good friends and were allowing me to present the equipment to them as a favor and training exercise and not because they wanted to buy. I was fine with that and figured it would be a good experience for fine tuning my presentation. For inspiration, I rented Glengarry Glen Ross and watched it. Then I  put on my suit coat and headed to the appointment.

Being my first time the presentation took like 3 hours as opposed to the target of 1.5 hours. My friends were impressed by the vacuum but not ready to buy anything. When it was over we had a few beers and discussed whether this was a legitimate endeavor. I left feeling hopeful and looked forward to my 3 appointments on Sunday.
