It might even be universally accepted now--Milwaukee communities need to work on improving the lives of its residents and workers. There are tons of organizations out there doing their part (check out OnMilwaukee.com/wishlist for more info about how you can help). What are we doing that might be reinforcing the social problems Milwaukee faces, including racism, poverty and crime? What are we not doing that would help the problem?
I think the answer has to do with social justice. Wikipedia explains, "Social justice refers to conceptions of justice applied to an entire society. It is based on the idea of a just society, which gives individuals and groups fair treatment and a just share of the benefits of society. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_justice)" How does Greater Milwaukee rate when using the "just society" concept to measure our community?
I am very interested in hearing from other Milwaukeeans about this question. Is it just me? Or are the litany of complaints about Milwaukee rooted in a lack of fair treatment and a lack of shared social benefits?
