Hello From The Hilton in Lovely Omaha. I am about 200 ft, via enclosed skyway, from the Quest Center in Omaha, NE for the Badgers first round NCAA game against Cal-St. Fullerton. I was going to start this blog with the line, "What can I say about Omaha that hasn't been said about the Rubix Cube? Because it seems neat at first, in reality is frustrating and kind of dumb, but is really cool if you like it becuase you can conquer it in minutes." Then I got here, and I have to say this is an underrated city. The downtown area is cool, and is highlighted with an area called "Old Town". "Old Town" had a variety of dining options including a "Famous Dave's Barbecue", where we witnessed the Cal-St. Fullerton team boarding their bus after devouring some barbecue. I would love to hear that there was an Outbreak of echoli at the Omaha Famous Daves on the TV tomorrow, but anyway. The area also had cobbled streets and plenty of watering holes. Then only a few miles from the downtown area you have Creighton University located as a Marquette style beacon for the city. I would brand it an adolescent Mileaukee. No pro sports teams though so it can't really compete.
The fans here, so far tonight, were almost 100% Kansas Jayhawks fans, but that was to be expected. Tommorow should be great with an 8:40 tip-off. Look for fridays edition for pictures and a re-cap of the game and festivities from Omaha.
