What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published May 7, 2008 at 4:15 p.m.

The 7-year-old in my house was preparing for bed last week when I noticed she seemed to be taking longer than usual to brush her teeth.

Caring parent that I am, I went to investigate and found her listening to Radio Disney on a bathroom radio.

When I told her it was time to hit the rack, she said, "But Daddy -- I want to hear what the No. 1 song is this week."

That took me back to my childhood, when I'd listen to Casey Kasem or other DJs count down the hits of the day. I'd cheer my heroes, boo the villains and almost always hang around until the end of the show to hear what was No. 1.

The music industry has changed a lot since then, and many people would argue that the charts are irrelevant in this era of iPods, internet radio, etc.

Just for grins, I decided to check billboard.com to see what the No. 1 song in the country is right now. Apparently, it's a tune called "Bleeding Love," by an artist named Leona Lewis.

I've never heard of Lewis, but she performed the song on "American Idol" last month (maybe that's why it's No. 1?). Here is the video:
