Milwaukee's own Maritime is recording at the Burst Collective's Burst HQ studio in downtown Tosa. That's not all that surprising these days since Burst's Daniel Holter has been cultivating lots of relationships in the local scene and has been sharing his studio with Kristian Riley of New Sense and Citizen King fame (and Riley produced the last Maritime record as well as demos for the final CD by The Promise Ring, whose singer Davey von Bohlen is in Maritime).
What's nice news for Milwaukee is that in town to produce the record is Stuart Sikes, a producer and Grammy winning engineer who was worked with the likes of Loretta Lynn, The White Stripes, The Walkmen and Modest Mouse's "Good News for People Who Love Bad News."
"It's been fun so far this week," Holter says. "I think it's a real coup for the studio to have this project here. We're stoked!"
Maritime is recording the new disc for Flameshovel Records.
