Hey Mixx! Make sure your staff knows what cookies you're selling. "That's either Peanut Butter or Butterscotch" is not a good sales pitch.

In April, we told you about Teecycle reaching the finals in PepsiCo's national "What's Your Pitch?" contest.

PepsiCo was scouting for "innovative ideas in the interactive world and beyond and a unique business idea that they feel would make the world a better place," and because founder Tim Cigelske not only recycles used T-shirts but also donates a $1 from every sale to restore urban river trails and waterways in the Milwaukee area, they saw his company as the perfect fit.

So perfect, in fact, that the powers that be at PepsiCo awarded Teecycle the top prize: a $4,500 grant.

With his winnings, Cigelske wants to print original designs from local artists on used T-shirts to sell alongside his already-printed thrifty finds.

"In other plans, I have it in my head that there's definitely a potential documentary in the artistic and ethical clothing movement. I think clothing is slowly headed along the same path as organic food. People are making wiser decisions with what they wear, and re-using T-shirts is just one small facet of this philosophy. But so far ethical clothing is a movement without a name or rallying cry, so maybe -- just maybe -- we could help get that started."

Broner, glad to hear you're not the crazy one! With so much radicalism these days, it's getting hard to tell the difference. I'm actually seeing that you are quite hysterical - saw your Street-Za bit!! (Oh, and congrats to Teecycle for their creative brilliance.)

Anonymous, that was sarcasm and a general poke at the goofiness often written on or responded to at OMC. I used a real quote (in context) from a recent OMC article in regard to the carcinogens on t-shirts. That was so ridiculous that I've enjoyed ripping on it. So I thought I'd combine it with the relatively newer theory of third hand smoke (Google it) that also sounds like a stretch. Just wait, once the anti-smoking crowd has a little more time, I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more about it because, well, they need to save us all.

I'm not sure if we should take Broner's comments seriously or not? Either you are an extreme Lefty-Left who can do nothing without government intervention and have a beef with Creative Enterprise or you are an extreme hypochondriac. Third-hand smoke? Obviously you can wash the shirt and free it of cigarette stink! If you want the government to take care of you, cradle to grave, start looking for a new Socialist country to move to!

Congratulations Tim! Did Pepsi give you any shirts for old products like Crystal Pepsi to resell? :)
