Note: The contents of this guide were checked for accuracy when this article was updated on Feb. 11, 2008 at 5:09 a.m. We continually update the thousands of articles on OnMilwaukee.com, but it's possible some details, specials and offers may have changed. As always, we recommend you call first if you have specific questions for the businesses mentioned in the guide.

Whether you're in the market for something -- or someone -- inflatable, or simply need to titillate your curiosity, consider bopping into an "adult" shop.

Most adult shops are not the sticky-floored arsenals you see in the talkies. In fact, Milwaukee is now home to two tasteful, women-owned erotic boutiques: The Tool Shed, 804 E. Center St., and A Woman's Touch, 200 N. Jefferson St.

Other shops, like those off of Interstate 94 in Racine and Kenosha, are a little seedier, but will still add oomph and ooh-la-la to an otherwise ordinary road trip. These sassy showrooms are open 24/7, and even when traveling to Grandma's on Christmas Day, you'll see a Camaro or two in the parking lot.

Most adult shops stock a strapping selection of X-rated and videos, books / magazines, lingerie (and / or "costumes," from nurses to sexy schoolgirls), erotic games, lubricants (some edible), vibrating novelties in all shapes and sizes and items that might make you wonder, "what in the dickens is that?"

And erotic emporiums are not just for the men folk, either. Ladies, listen below the belly and you may hear a risqué request -- in the form of a monologue, of course.
