What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published Dec. 26, 2007 at 4:05 p.m.

I think a lot of parents have a story like this one, but I'm going to tell my version of it anyway.

My kids got a lot of holiday loot this year, from a record player (yes, a record player, thanks to eBay) to Fisher Price digital cameras to a massive tin of Tinker Toys. But really, their eyes lit up the most when they opened a gift from their Grandpa: an assortment of Band-Aids, including Spiderman Band-Aids, Scooby Doo Band-Aids and Diego Band-Aids. They both screamed with glee after ripping open the gift and planted close to a dozen kisses on their "Poppy's" bearded face.

I remember loving Band-Aids as a kid, too. They were like stickers, but each one was individually gift-wrapped. I remember sticking an entire box of smiley face bandages on my swing set once, and my mom got mad at me. So, I decided to be pretty lax about the Christmas Band-Aids, and consequently Levi stuck them all over his arms and legs, and then wrapped 'em around most of his fingers. He even stuck a few on me and one on the dog.

Unfortunately, the Christmas and Band-Aid combo got the song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" stuck in my head. You remember the one: it was performed by the group of miscellaneous musicians in the '80s who united under the name "Band Aid" to raise money for Ethiopia. I guess it beats having a head full of "Jingle Bells," but not by much.
