People never fail to amaze me. And not always in a good way. Yesterday, I was at a Wave game with my toddler and I was reminded about the value of setting a good example for one's children and the children around you.
Sitting behind us was a couple with their son and daughter, who were probably around 9 or 10, more or less. When the T-shirts began parachuting down from the rafters, the son ran over to the ramp to try and catch one. He almost had one when a teenager, already holding two shirts, whipped it away when it was just out of the boy's grasp.
Of course, dad is upset and rightfully so. So, how does he react? Does he say to the teenager, "come on, you've already got two shirts and my son practically had it in his hands?"
No.
When he sees that another dad -- in the row in front of us -- almost has a shirt in his hand, he leaps up and swats it away making a big and loud show of depriving someone else's kid.
A few moments later, the son, still upset -- even though he now has a T-shirt obtained in a manner no less pathetic than the teen's method -- says, "did you see that guy that took the shirt I almost had already had two shirts?"
Dad replied, "yeah, he stole it from you. That's why I stole this one from the guy down there."
All this for a T-shirt.
