I recently tried to re-visit Charro for lunch a few days ago only to find out that they had move to a dinner only service. So now with the Charro menu running through my head the only way to satisfy it was to try it out for dinner again. The restaurant was not busy and we were able to be seated right away. Once seated the server was kind enough to point out the menu had recently changed and he took the time to highlight the differences and any specials they were currentlyrunning. Luckily for us that he took the time explain the changes in detail because we were compelled to try items that in my opinion were otherwise overpriced. To start we tried the Mexican Crab Cake (originally $14, but 1/2 price that night, $7). If it weren't for the special that night I can assure that even as an avid seafood fan my wallet would not open, let alone even leave my back pocket for one crab cake priced at $14. Thank goodness for recession specials I suppose.... check out http://yourmilwaukeedining.blogspot.com to read the rest of the review for Charro

Charro is a brand new latinfusion restaurant downtown, and it's one of my favorites! There is a full bar and the food is just spectacular! It's a fun place to dine at with your friends. The food is so delicious, and not to mention I love the workers there--- SO NICE! It's just a great time,I'd suggest everyone go and try out Charro on Milwaukee street :)

Charro was a great place for mexican food! I really loved the design of the inside and the atmosphere made dining there a lot more up-beat and enjoyable. They have a great selection from entree's and appetizers you can pick from. I had the Guacamole With Chips for an appetizer, and the Seafood Paella for an entree, and they were both excellent! I would reccommend this restaurant for anyone who likes mexican/latin food!

I was at a group dinner at Charro on Monday night and was disappointed. IMHO, this management group is pretty tight when it comes to food quality at its other venues, so I was surprised. One diner's enchilada sauce was so bitter it was inedible. The paella rice was mushy and overcooked. My honey rum glazed pork, that I thought would be a pork loin of sorts, was actually pulled pork soaked in a sugary sweet rum juice that totally eliminated any pork flavor. It was too cloyingly sweet to eat and unpleasant. I agree with Rickyrod that the quesadillas were fantastic. The fried plantains were great and the servers were very attentive and accommodating. I don't know if it was because it was a Monday night or what, but the food quality missed the mark completely for me. I may try appetizers or a different dish next time, but my experience didn't have me rushing back to tell my friends to go.
