Stagnate, yet serviceable for years, several of the city's best places to stay are getting makeovers and adding upscale edges this summer. Many others are making positive changes, plus there are many new hotels under development and/or in the planning stages.
The Wyndham gets into the game with a new consulting partnership with one of the city's best chefs, Marc Bianchini, the creator of Osteria Del Mondo and Cubanita's.
His On the Marc restaurant group will help build buzz as he lends his expertise to the development of a new restaurant, lounge and night club in the Marcus Corporation's newly acquired hotel at 139 E. Kilbourn Ave.
A casting call/job fair was held this past week, and work has begun on the new space that is rumored to have a one-word name, Kilowat (a sign reading "KIL@WAT" hangs in a window at the hotel).
