The takeout / delivery chain Wing Zone has franchise locations in 25 states and boasts chain sales of more than $46 million. Later this summer, it will open at 1683 N. Van Buren St., at the corner of Brady Street, next to DigiCopy where Giovanni's restaurant once stood.

Here's how the company describes itself on its Web site, "25 ... flavors of fresh, cooked-to-order chicken wings, fingers, chicken sandwiches, burgers and more. Wing Zone has nearly 100 locations operating nationwide and 30 more in development."

Wing Zone's only other Wisconsin location is in Green Bay. The Atlanta-based franchise received attention this summer for its plans to recycle vegetable oil as fuel for its delivery cars. According to reports, Wing Zone plans to convert at least one vehicle at each of its 120 locations, and the change should save nearly 200,000 gallons of gasoline per year.
