Executive Chef Jerry Garcia has joined Heaven City. Garcia, who is as well known for his famous name as he is for his culinary craft, recently served as the executive chef at Coast Restaurant Downtown. Garcia was courted by owners Jimmy Wade and Julie Beronja to join the new management at Heaven City, which opened in 1940.

"When Julie and I bought Heaven City two years ago, we saw the potential the restaurant could have," Wade said. "Waukesha County is the fastest-growing area in the state and we want to give the people of Waukesha a dining experience right in their own backyard."

Garcia has an impressive background, but it is his instinct and experience that set him apart. "When Jimmy and Julie approached me, there was no way I could say no," said Garcia. "I live just minutes from the restaurant and the history that comes with the name and building, well, I just had to be part of the plan."

What plans does Garcia have for the menu? "I'm going to use many cultural 'touches' mostly using different flavors and spices to popular dishes already on the menu. The menu will pretty much stay the same, but look for the "specials of the day" to knock your socks off," Garcia said.
