The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Eat & Drink, 2007. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.

Just as it does every year, the readers of OnMilwaukee.com have selected The King & I as the best Thai restaurant in Milwaukee.

And it's hard to blame them. Whether you've sampled their food at Summerfest or tried their excellent lunch buffet, the King & I is a venerable choice in the small pool of Milwaukee Thai restaurants.

The restaurant moved about a block west recently to 830 N. Old World 3rd St., but the food that's been heating up Milwaukee's palate for nearly 20 years stays the same. Perhaps the most famous dish on the menu is the Volcano Chicken, a tangy, but sweet dish of lightly breaded chicken (see above) that tastes great over sticky white rice. Despite its name, it's not overwhelmingly spicy.

The King & I boasts a menu of more than 65 items, including vegetarian options and a full bar.
