Thousands of people piled into their cars in the wee morning hours this past Friday, hoping to score big-ticket items on the cheap. In some cases, the sacrifice of waking up a lot earlier than normal, battling the cold and dealing with shopzillas who would knock down a nun to grab the last Xbox is totally worth it. But others watch these people on the news and scratch their head in disbelief, wondering why anyone would subject themselves to the consumer hell otherwise known as Black Friday.

But what about you? Did you, or would you, shop at 5 a.m. or earlier on Black Friday?

No way. I think it's absolutely nuts that people endure Black Friday just to save a few dollars. The discounts aren't that great, and if they are, there are usually only a few of the sale items in stock. Black Friday is a scam and just a way to kick start the shopping frenzy that most Americans believe is synonymous with the holidays. You couldn't pay me to shop at 5 a.m. in a store filled with those materialistic lunatics.

Heck, yes. Sure, there are people who take it too seriously, but most of the early morning shoppers on Black Friday love the tradition of day-after-Thanksgiving shopping and the chance to get stoked about the upcoming holidays. I wouldn't want to do it every week, but once a year, it's a lot of fun. And despite what some people say, the savings on Black Friday are spectacular.
