Sunday Sound-off: Are tattoos stylish, skanky or passé?
Ah, yes. The uber-popular Chinese character tattoo.

This weekend, the Wyndham Hotel hosts the Milwaukee Tattoo Arts Convention. The convention features artists, vendors and live bands, and the event attracts thousands of body ink enthusiasts from all over the Midwest.

Years ago, tats were reserved for inmates and sailors. Then, in the '90s, they bled into the mainstream with a vengeance. In some circles, tattoos lost popularity in the last few years, but plenty of folks remain hooked on ink.

But what are your thoughts on tattoos? Are they stylish, skanky or passé?

Tattoos are still cool. As long as you have a good artist and a well-thought design, tattoos are still very cool. Milwaukee is filled with talented tattoo artists and the popularity of self-adornment appears to remain at an all-time high.

Tattoos are skanky. Tattoos have been and always will be super skanky looking, no matter what they are or where they're placed. The "tramp stamp" (a lower back tattoo) is the worst, but really, they're all pretty bad.

Tats are tragically passé. Tattoos were cool 10 or 15 years ago, but they're going to "date" people. Two decades from now, no one's going to get tattoos, and all of those washed-up hipsters running around with inked up arms and legs are going to look very '90s.
