The New World Wine Co. will open a second location this summer in the Third Ward, at 322 N. Water St., a half-block south of the new Milwaukee Public Market, due to open in July. New World Wine's first shop opened at the corner of Ogden and Van Buren Streets in 2002.
The 5,300-square-foot Water Street store will sell wine, spirits, imported and microbeers and gourmet groceries. It will include a café, event space and off-street parking.
Meanwhile, owners Dennis and Barbara Wanless and Julie Hollingsworth will open their third upscale, yet casual, City Market bakery and deli in the old Haasch Appliance building at 8725 W. North Ave. in Wauwatosa.
They have also purchased an adjacent property and razed the building to create parking spaces. The new location will have outdoor seating and be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
