Landmark Lanes, 2220 N. Farwell Ave., and a stone's throw from the OnMilwaukee.com world headquarters, is gearing up for its 80th birthday on April 27.
Located beneath the historic Oriental Theater on Milwaukee's East Side, it's among the city's oldest and most storied bowling alleys. Its game room is classic, its bars have stools for all walks of life and through its storied past there has always been an eclectic crowd of regulars from Mark Borchardt of "American Movie" to former Bucks star Ray Allen.
To celebrate, Landmark is hosting a private 80th anniversary celebration and media event on Monday, April 23. Area business and community leaders will celebrate and hear from Bill Ryan, Landmark Lanes' manager of more than 30 years. Slava Tuzhilkov is the current owner.
OnMilwaukee.com is compiling stories about Landmark and will report from the anniversary event on April 23.
