Next weekend Milwaukee hosts the Italian Folk Art Federation of America (IFAFA) conference for the second time.

"We had it in '99 and our city won again for '06," Marie B. Mattia, who is active in Tradizione Vivente, an Italian dance group here. "Please stop by if you can. The gala is open to the public."

The conference runs Oct. 20-22 at the hotel. But the main public event, the "Festa Folcloristica," takes place Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Sheraton Brookfield Hotel in the Brookfield Room, 375 S. Moorland Rd. A 5:30 p.m. cocktail hour precedes a 6:30 dinner.

Afterward, the Glorioso family will be saluted for helping to keep Italian traditions alive in Milwaukee and there will be performances by Milwaukee's Sicilian Serenaders, a Chicago Italian band called La Nuova Immagine, Tradizione Vivente and other dance groups from around the country.
