A remnant of Bay View's northern
Italian community, the first such enclave in the city, Club Garibaldi -- named for the great Italian patriot -- is also a reminder of the many mutual aid societies that Italian-American communities founded throughout America. Nowadays, few people make the connection anymore and Club Garibaldi became known as one of the must-hit spots on a south sider's night out, drawing glass tippers from as distant as South Milwaukee.
Purchased by a former Points East Pub bartender, Club Garibaldi is becoming better known to East Siders, although many remember the gigs featuring local bands held in the spacious back room more than a decade ago. A friendly place with an honorable history, Club Garibaldi sits just across the Hoan Bridge making it a mere five-minute
ride from downtown.
