Redlight, the nightclub upstairs from Trocadero, 1758 N. Water St., will close on Aug. 4. Owned by the Diablos Rojos Restaurant Group, Redlight will free up space to accommodate private parties and events.

"Groups are asking for their own bar, their own space, computer access, private bands or deejays, and even Powerpoint presentation capabilities," says director of operations, Gordon Goggin.

Redlight will close to the public on Monday, Aug. 4, after operating as a separate nightclub for the last four years.

Fans of Redlight will have an opportunity to usher it out in style with a four-day "Grand Finale Party" beginning with Babylon on Thursday, July 31.

The event continues with "Down and Dirty" featuring DJ Jezny on Friday, Aug. 1, and Acid Man Al on Saturday, Aug. 2.

Redlight's final night, "Pleasuredome," will be Sunday, Aug. 3, featuring local DJs E-Rich and Why B.

"We had a great run in an edgier setting than the Trocadero, but it is time to add to our offerings in what is becoming a highly lucrative market. People are booking more and more functions despite the economy and that has become a substantial piece of our economic framework," says co-owner Mike Eitel.

But this doesn't mean the end of the Redlight concept. Eitel and his partner, Eric Wagner, are considering locations for Redlight as a larger, full-service nightclub and may reopen it as early as next year.
