As we first told you in April, Henry's, one of the East Side's favorite stops at 2523 E. Belleview Pl., temporary closed.
It's now my pleasure to report that it's now reopened under the same name by four local guys who also were long time patrons. These guys believe, "that the new construction and growth in the area is a major opportunity for an establishment recognized as one of the oldest bars/restaurants in the Downer Avenue area," said co-owner Christian Bartley.
The new owners are Nader Pakroo, long time manager of Henry's Pub and Grille, Christian Bartley and Christen Pechman of the World Trade Center Wisconsin, and John Roush of Geronimo Promotions.
The original Henry's Pub and Grille started 25 years ago as part of the famous Coffee Trader on Downer Ave. and moved to its current location in 1998.
The new Henry's Tavern intends to keep its neighborhood feel. The core menu will remain the same but the owners plan to add seasonal selections and additional offerings later this summer.
Henry's, which has been softly opened since June 19, celebrates its official Grand Opening on Saturday, July 14 beginning at 4 p.m. with a block party for the neighborhood on Belleview. There will be live music, food and beer served outdoors, with a full bar inside. East Belleview Place will be closed from Downer Avenue to the alley that day from the late morning through the evening.
