Café Forte, 10530 N. Port Washington Rd., is under the new ownership of Lupe Duenas, who is already bringing new ideas to the upscale Mequon coffeehouse.
Drawing on her 20 years' experience in international business, Duenas is applying her skills to this entrepreneurial venture.
In addition to coffees, teas and baked goods, Café Forte offers many extras -- like free Internet service, weekly performers and art display featuring local artists -- making it a great spot for anyone to unwind.
"The environment allows for business and social to meet," Duenas says. "It has a nice ambience to it."
The ambience has led many in the community to turn to Café Forte for a quick bite or chance to get out. Private conference rooms are available for business meetings and social club events.
Soho Magazine ("small office, home office") was so impressed, it named Café Forte the best coffee house in Wisconsin. Duenas was honored to receive such an distinction, but she has more in store for the coffeehouse.
"I want to continue the strong ties with the community," she says. "I really like the cultural aspects of coffee, so I am planning to have educational seminars and classes."
Realizing that community support is what it takes to be successful, Duenas plans to host fundraisers for community groups such as area schools in order to give back..
Café Forte can be reached at (262) 241-8819.

It is obvious that the previous opinion was rendered by a still very angry ex-employee looking to vent and attempt to diminish a very successful business. The Cafe is extremely welcoming the staff and owner are awesome as are the drinks, food and environment. There are numerous groups that have made is a very regular place to meet. Local artists continue to display there work and have "opening" artists receptions. The food is fresh made on-site: paninis, gourmet pizzas, breakfast sandwiches, great soups daily. Couldn't be more satisfied with the new ownership!! She and her staff know their customers well. The confernence room is always booked as are frequent areas around the cafe for bridge, mah jongg, business networking, community meetings. Come check out everything for yourself and you will find how everything is top-rate. (It is unfortunate that several of the commentators want to be so angry, evil and unhappy with THEMSELVES. )

Mequon said: The new owner is no comparison to the previous couple. She is extremely unfriendly. She fired all the previous employees that helped make the place what is was. She turned her back on all the artists. The food is days old and stale. She is not maintaining the quality of service, coffee, food or atmosphere we all came to love and enjoy. The new owner is no friend to the community. The complimentary conference is not reserved for a CHARGE. Now that's really helping the community. She was difficult and less then integritable to a school who tried a coffee fundraiser. The place has fallen quickly at her hand. She isn't even maintaining the quality. The bathroom is filthy. The bottom line and truth of the matter is this -- what once a community hot spot full of friendly patrons and offered a welcoming and comfortable place is now the local disappointment that is as cold as the new owner. What a bust and disappointment to the Mequon community.

terry said: Consistency is key in a good coffee shop, but Cafe Forte doesn't have that. All of the "experienced" employees no longer work there (which is a shame) and the new owner seems unfriendly if not unapproachable. The former owners would be very welcomed back.
