The Diablos Rojos Group took over the space formerly occupied by The Lodge, 134 E. Juneau Ave. The group plans to open a new venture, The Fat Abbey Biercafé, around May 20.
According to Mike Eitel of the Diablos Rojos Group, the bar and restaurant will offer a huge beer selection with an emphasis on Belgian beers. The Fat Abbey will serve lunch and dinner consisting primarily of pizza, burgers, frites (Belgian fries) and sauces, as well as a weekend brunch.
Prior to the opening, Eitel says they will make numerous changes and updates to the space, including a new-and-improved outdoor patio with a heated, year-round pavilion bar.
"It should be a mix between the Nomad and (Café) Hollander," says Eitel. "It's all about gnomes, trolls, jolly monks and good beer."
